Though this conference is open to individuals from all fields with varying degrees of prior knowledge, there will be a particular session dedicated to STUDENTS and getting them involved in this rapidly emerging field. This conference will be a perfect opportunity to set up a national network consisting of students from across Canada who seek to further develop this field in the Canadian setting.
For this reason, during the second day of the conference there will be a Student Networking Luncheon, directly focused on this goal. This session will provide students with an opportunity to meet their counterparts from other universities and to talk about ways they can develop ideas that will specifically allow them to engage in this field (possibly through events, project, and writings of a regional or national scale).
A first time concept in Canada, this conference is being entirely organized by students, showing that there is no lack of energy. Students from across Canada must forge an alliance to make such endeavors the norm.
One idea is to start preparation for next year’s conference where students will be asked to present solutions to specific problems pertaining to Islamic finance. Another idea is the creation of an eJournal.
Although the ideas are abundant, what is most important is for some of them to be captured and be made into reality. We encourage all interested students to come to the Student Networking Luncheon with ideas on how to take Islamic Economics and Finance in Canada to the next level.
STAY TUNED FOR MORE DETAIL ABOUT THIS SPECIAL SESSION.
